Eventually, after hours of trying different trails, I managed to reach the cabin, but by simply downloading Google Maps offline (and not taking that “shortcut”), I was able to avoid all problems. Even without internet service, just download the correct map and use Google Maps to navigate to your destination.
If you’re planning a trip to a location where internet service isn’t available, you’ll need to download the map(s) offline with Google Maps. Here’s what you should know:

First, you don’t need to download the entire Google Map. Instead, you’ll need to download specific regions before you travel. This is the city, county, or region where you spend your time and may not have service on your cell phone.
Google Maps To download maps offline, open the Google Maps application on your iOS or Android and tap your profile picture in the top right (you must be logged into your Google account for this to work). In the menu that appears, tap . Select Offline Maps > My Maps.
