Hands-On With the $99 Nothing Ear Stick

Nothing is known for its various Android-based budget devices, but recently a new set of $99 “Ear Stick” EarbudsWe picked up some new earbuds and thought we’d check them out to see if they could rival Apple’s AirPods.

Stylized as a Nothing Ear (stick), the Nothing earbuds have a rather unique design. You can see the hardware inside the stem thanks to the transparent housing.

The Nothing Ear Stick earbuds are more similar in design than the 3rd generation AirPods. AirPods Pro, there is no silicon tip. Instead, it features an ergonomic design that allows the earbuds to sit outside the ear like AirPods.In terms of size, the Nothing Ear Stick earphones are nearly airpods 3.

Unsurprisingly, we found the ear sticks fit to be similar to AirPods and comfortable to wear. There are squeeze-based gestures for pause/play, swap tracks and change volume, and customization options are available in the included app.

The sound is passable, and with EQ adjustments, the Ear Stick earbuds offer a similar sound profile to the 3rd generation AirPods. Inside the earbuds are 12.6 mm drivers that, with a little tweaking, have more noticeable bass than the AirPods.

Several Apple-like features are available, such as ear detection to play/pause music and the option to find sounds when you misplace your earbuds. Additionally, the app supports battery percentage, gesture customization, and sound adjustment.

The Ear Stick earbuds themselves are similar in design to the AirPods, but nothing goes a different direction when it comes to the case. It has a tube-shaped case that resembles a lipstick, and the earbuds fit inside for charging purposes. Twist open the USB-C case to access the earbuds and add 22 hours of playtime.

The Nothing Ear Stick earbuds can pair with iOS devices and serve as an AirPods replacement for those interested, but without features like automatic pairing and quick device switching.earphone iphone, iPador mac.
