auburn quarterback Zack Calzada have not stepped onto the field in three games this season, and it looks like that will not change between now and the end of the season. Auburn Live reported Thursday Calzada, a redshirt sophomore from Sugar Hill, Georgia, has season-ending surgery on his non-throwing shoulder and will apply for a medical redshirt.

Transfer destination Calzada Texas A&M, for 2,185 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season, for 184 of 328 (56.1%).He started the final 10 games of the season instead Haynes Kingthrew for 285 yards and three touchdowns in a 41–38 victory over Alabama on October 9, 2021.

This is not a new injury for Calzada. Ironically, he first injured his shoulder last November 6 against Auburn. That injury forced him into very limited action this spring with Brian Hershin’s Tigers. It will be done soon so that I can be healthy again.

The news that Calzada was injured isn’t exactly a shock to Auburn, but confirmation of his absence comes amid great uncertainty for the quarterback. TJ Finleyironically injured his shoulder in last week’s 41-12 loss Pennsylvania. reported Wednesday Finley’s injury will keep him out of Saturday’s home game MissouriHershin became a redshirt freshman dual-threat quarterback Robbie Ashford Quit the game. Ashford has been active in the quarterback rotation in all three games, throwing for 245 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and rushing for 158 yards.

Harsin dodged questions about the quarterback’s status on Wednesday’s SEC coaches conference call.

“We are looking at who will be the man at every position.” harshin said“We talked about the competition earlier in the week. Who will start for us? We’ll see.”

With Calzada reportedly missing and Finley reportedly missing as well, Hershin could be left with Ashford and the 6-foot-3, 212-pound true freshman Holden Geliner Not only will it be a pivotal game for the Auburn Tigers in 2022, but Hersin’s job security on the plains is on the depth chart to move forward.
